Burner Configurations for Your Kitchen Size
Sunflame cooktops come in three burner counts: 2-burner, 3-burner and 4-burner models. A 2-burner suits a compact kitchen or couple's home. A 3-burner fits a small family and most everyday cooking. A 4-burner works for larger families or those who cook multiple dishes at once.
Each cooktop carries burners of different sizes. A jumbo burner delivers high flame for fast cooking, searing and pressure cooker use. Medium burners handle day-to-day cooking. Small burners are for simmering or keeping food warm. This mix of sizes lets you use the right burner for each dish.
Glass-Top and Stainless Steel Builds
Sunflame offers two main surface materials. Glass-top models use 8 mm thick tempered glass that resists heat cracking and discoloring even under repeated high heat. The glass is easy to wipe clean and gives a modern kitchen look. Stainless steel models feature a 2 mm brushed finish body with corrosion resistance, suited to humid or coastal air.
Glass tops require gentle handling: avoid placing cold cookware on a hot surface, as sudden temperature change can crack the glass. Stainless steel bodies resist rust and salt air corrosion, making them a good choice for homes near the coast or in areas with high moisture. Both types come with heavy-duty cast iron or euro-coated steel pan supports built to hold heavy Indian vessels without bending.
Manual and Auto Ignition Systems
Manual ignition models require a lighter or matchstick to light the gas. They are simple, have no battery to replace and are reliable in humid kitchens where moisture can affect electronic parts. Auto ignition models use battery-operated or multi-spark electronic ignition. Press a button and the burner lights. Auto ignition is more convenient for daily cooking, though battery-operated models need battery changes periodically.
Choose manual ignition if you value long-term reliability and want to avoid battery upkeep. Choose auto ignition for ease of use, especially if you cook often or have young children in the home.
Burner Materials and Safety Features
Sunflame burners are forged brass or thermal-efficient brass for high-efficiency cooking. The brass design heats fuel quickly and burns gas cleanly. Heavy-duty cast iron or euro-coated steel pan supports are designed to handle the weight of heavy Indian cookware, pressure cookers and large vessels without warping or tilting.
Sunflame states that its cooktops carry ISI certification, meaning it is stated to meet Bureau of Indian Standards safety requirements. Stainless steel or GP sheet drip trays catch spillage and prevent corrosion inside the cooktop body. Select built-in flexi hob models include a flame failure device, or FFD, which cuts gas supply if the flame goes out unexpectedly.
LPG and PNG Compatibility
All models are designed for LPG, the most common household gas in India. Many models also offer PNG, or piped natural gas, compatibility with conversion. If your area receives PNG supply through pipes, your cooktop can be converted for PNG use. This conversion must be done by a qualified technician to ensure safe operation and correct gas flow.
Having both LPG and PNG options means you can choose the gas type available in your region or switch if your area upgrades to piped gas in future. Check with a Sunflame authorised service centre before requesting a conversion.
Warranty and Service Support
Sunflame cooktops carry a 2-year product warranty. Premium stainless steel models offer 5 years on the stainless steel body, burners and valves. Warranty covers manufacturing faults and defects in materials or workmanship. Service and warranty claims are handled only by Sunflame's authorised service centres, not by Vimal Electric. When you buy a Sunflame cooktop, register it with the manufacturer to activate your warranty. If the cooktop needs repair, contact Sunflame's authorised service centre in your area.
Quality to Look For When Choosing
Check the thickness of the glass top. Thicker glass resists thermal shock and cracks. Look at the burner design: forged brass burners are generally considered sturdier than stamped versions. Feel the weight of the pan supports: heavier cast iron or well-coated steel shows quality. Examine the drip tray: stainless steel is better than galvanised sheet as it resists corrosion in humid kitchens.
If you plan to use a pressure cooker often, choose a cooktop with a jumbo burner and strong pan supports. If you live in a coastal area or high-moisture climate, prefer stainless steel over painted surfaces. If your kitchen gets heavy cooking use, auto ignition and an FFD on built-in models add convenience and safety.
